Country estate with a large garden, pool and an ongoing art exhibition – ideal for a cultural holiday in the countryside


The country estate is situated in Pian di Scò (province of Arezzo), a town in the hills, on an enchanting rise, 405m above sea level.

The ancient Tuscan country estate, whose oldest part dates from the 18th century, was restored in 2010 and offers a unique view of the Valdarno, with unforgettable sunsets and beautiful panoramas. The estate consists of three buildings: the manor house, the guest house and a small adjacent building. A part of the manor house is inhabited by the owner, while the second part (with its own separate entrance) and the small adjacent building are used as a Bed & Breakfast. The Bed & Breakfast has two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a third bedroom with a bathroom in the adjacent building. The dining hall with a professional kitchen is situated on the ground floor of the manor house, where breakfast (for the B&B) and also, upon request, dinner is served. The guesthouse consists of an accommodation unit and is fully available to guests. All rooms are furnished with antique furniture and lovingly decorated to create a welcoming and warm atmosphere. The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable. From the windows, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view. Guests of the country estate may use the house owner’s washing machine if required, as none of the accommodation units are equipped with a washing machine.

The large garden (10000m²) with a panoramic pool and the barn floor in front of the houses is available to the guests for quiet, relaxing moments, for reading good books, and for sunbathing. There is a hammock in the garden in front of the pool, and near to the pool is an outdoor shower. An oasis of peace that is broken only by the crowing of roosters and the barking of the dogs in the neighbouring farms.

Indoors, you can sample the traditional Tuscan cuisine, simple and healthy dishes which are happily and lovingly prepared by the house owner for her guests. Numerous artists display their works permanently on the estate: pictures and bronze sculptures are placed in an ambience where the love of art and nature is in the foreground.

The estate is located between the cities of Arezzo and Florence, which are between 35 and 40 km away, and the city of Siena that can be reached by car in an hour. Pian di Scò is about 1.5 km away and offers the most important services such as shops, restaurant, bus stop and launderette. If you take a walk along the paths around the estate that lead into the surrounding woods and hills, you can come across squirrels, various kinds of birds and streams of spring water, which form small lakes here and there. The fragrances of nature, of the plants and of the numerous fruits are noticeable everywhere. The Chianti region is very close. The village overlooks the upper Valdarno and the most important towns of the area, such as San Giovanni Valdarno, Montevarchi and Reggello.

Guesthouse

The guesthouse (120m²) is located next to the manor house and extends over two levels. On the ground floor is the entrance room with a sofa bed for two people. From here you have access to the bright and elegant living room with a fireplace, access to the bedroom with a double bed, access to the courtyard (about 30m away from the pool), and access to the vantage point. On the first floor is the kitchen with access to the terrace and garden (the levels of the house correspond to the terrace levels of the surrounding hills). There are also two bedrooms, each with a double bed and each with an en-suite bathroom.

In the outside area, there is a private, roofed verandah, located on the north side of the house. In addition, a barbecue is available to house guests.

    “Das Haus war sehr praktisch und kunstvoll zugleich eingerichtet, aber keinen Geschirrspüler zu haben kann ab 5 Personen anstrengend werden.
    Ein weiterer Pluspunkt jedoch ist die einladend große, komplett überdachte Außenterasse, sie war in der Mittagshitze unser aller bevorzugter Aufenthaltsort. Die Vermieterin spricht nur sehr schlechtes Englisch, eine Unterhaltung war unmöglich. Das Wasser im Pool war zwar sauber, aber immer extrem trüb. Es gab nur im Erdgeschoss Moskitonetze vor den Fenstern, das haben wir alle sehr bedauert, vor allem nachts. Wer struppige Katzen nicht mag oder unter einer Katzenallergie leidet, hat dort Probleme. Die Vermieterin hat 5 Katzen, die auch immer bei uns herumlungerten. Die Lage in den Weinbergen ist phantastisch, ebenso der Ausblick.”

    “Sehr großes und sauberes Haus. Sehr nette Wirtin, die jedoch nur Italienisch mit ein paar Brocken Englisch, Französisch und Deutsch spricht. Das Haus ist sehr gut für sechs Personen geeignet.
    Pool klein, aber zum Abkühlen völlig ausreichend. Die letzten ca. 200 m der Zufahrt sind steil, eng und teilweise unbefestigt. Mit großen Fahrzeugen, Sportwagen oder tiefer gelegten PkW nur bedingt befahrbar. Das Haus ist ruhig. Die Terrasse ist schön groß und bietet ab Mittag guten Sonnenschutz. Die Küchenausstattung könnte etwas besser sein. Es fehlt z.B. eine "normale" Kaffeemaschine.”
